The Common Renal Toxin Drugs

In clinical practice, many drugs can affect kidneys. The common renal toxin drugs are including:


1. Antibiotic: 1. Aminoglycosides antibiotics: such as streptomycin, neomycin, kanamycin, gentamicin, amikacin, tobramycin, paromomycin and so on.2. Cephalosporin: cephalosporin II; (3) polymyxin: mainly polymyxin B; (4) amphotericin B; 5. Tetracyclines: tetracycline, declomycin, oxytetracycline and doxycycline; 6. Sulfonamides; 7. rifampicin.
2. Non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs: such as acetylsalicylic acid, ibuprofen, butazodine, diclofenac and indometacin and piroxicam usp and so on.
3. Antineoplastic drugs: such as cisplatin, carmustine, amethopterin, streptozocin,L-asparaginase, mitomycin, mithramycin.
4. Biological products: 1. Bacterin or vaccine made by microbiology; 2. Toxoid made by microbiology metabolic products; 3. Antitoxin or blood preparation made from human or animal blood; 4. Bacterial liquid or serum using in diagnosis.
5. Painkillers: such as morphine, dolantin and so on. Many painkillers contain phenacetin which is a renal toxin medicine. And aspirin in the painkillers will strengthen its renal toxin.
6. Vitamin: mainly Vitamin D, Vitamin A.
7. Other renal toxin substance: heroin, contrast agent and chemical substance such as mercury (Hg), Cadmium (Cd), gold, aluminum, silver, ferrum and such metal or heavy metal, organic solvent ethylene glycol, carbon tetrachloride, antiepileptics and anti-hyperuricosuria drugs and so on.

After knowing the renal toxin drugs, people with kidney damage should following the doctor's advice, and choose the correct treatment for kidney problem. Try to avoid taking the renal toxic drugs.
